Tea O'Clock - Brew #5
There is a term in Tamil called “poosi moluguradhu”, which roughly translates into covering it up. This is generally something I do to my slightly uneven cakes. The times are such that one can be forgiven if they do the same with their current life situation or blog title.
From the shelves:
Are you someone frustrated by the lack of notable female detectives in fiction? I have made it my job to discover detective series with kickass female protagonists. And best of the lot would be The Lady Sherlock series by Sheryl Thomas. What happens when you are an intelligent woman with a passion for solving crimes, but society requires you to have a chaperone or get married. It is interesting how the challenges become double-fold when the Holmes in question is female. And this is one series that keeps getting better. But if you are someone who has a stomach for gore, you can pick up the fast-paced Lacey Flint series by Sharon Bolton.
From the kitchen:
Kebabs are curious things. There are some that come together in a jiffy and there are some that take over your day. The trick is to choose the recipe that will suit your day and mood. So for one of those empty weekends on which all you need is good food, here is the perfect recipe for you. The Suran Gaalwati kebab from Swapneel Prabhu’s (@themissingdrumstick)Instagram highlights is the most sublime vegetable kebab that you can make. I for one cannot believe that the vegetable that I used to hate as a kid can be turned into something truly spectacular.
From the playlist:
99% invisible is easily my most favorite podcast. I cannot think of a single episode that is boring. My recent favorite episode is Goodnight Nobody, which talks about the unlikely battle between a librarian and a children’s book author. What unfolds is something worthy of a Netflix mini-series.
Here’s me wishing that we are all cake and some good old chocolate ganache is all we need to cover up our inconsistencies. Stay safe!
Ciao.
