You know the modern family quote that talks about dreamers and realists needing each other? I agree most days but dreamers need each other too. People who have that weirdly same taste as you about most things in life—hanging out for hours at a bookshop, spending an afternoon ogling at beautiful houses, understanding your totally-unnecessary-but-emotional-support buy, always up for planning an Italian trip that might or might not happen, etc.

Let me start by saying that everyone should read at least one Stephen King during their lifetime. This year I finally picked up my first King after some encouraging words(and warnings not to touch Pet Sematary) from a friend. I read Firestarter and I was blown away! The story only has a handful of characters but the pace keeps ramping up to a ticking time bomb. Mind you, Firestarter is not even horror exactly but the unease never goes away. After all, humans are more sinister than most other things that occupy this planet. I am gonna steel myself and read another King soon. Here’s an immensely enjoyable write-up on Stephen King by Neil Gaiman.

‘Tis the season to bake banana bread! The weather is just about right to sit down with a book and treat yourself to a slice or two of toasted banana bread. The best thing about banana bread is that it is as forgiving as it is versatile. It is just impossible to mess it up even though there are thousands of recipe variations around. You can go with something that is either plain or decadent or DIY a basic recipe by adding any topping and flavors of your choice. I generally use this basic eggless banana bread recipe and add whatever I feel like at the moment. Cinnamon, chocochips, walnuts, cranberry, candied orange peel, and the list goes on!

Been slowly getting back into the groove of listening to podcasts thanks to some amazing recommendations on Twitter. My favorite one so far is The humpback and the killer, a fabulous story about humpback whales and their longstanding enmity with Orcas aka killer whales. Equal parts gripping and mysterious. And slightly moving if you can believe that. Here’s to podcasts that come out of nowhere and surprise you.
This is your gentle reminder to find your own tribe, reality can wait for a while!
Ciao!
