Tea O'Clock - Brew #3
Have you ever wanted to be in two places at once? The idea got into my head while watching ‘A walk to remember’. I always thought of it as a shortcut to time travel. Or as close to time travel as one can get. Over the weekend, we stayed in the coastal village of Malpe near Udupi. It is a narrow strip of land with the sea on one side and the backwaters on the other side. If you sit at the right spot, you can look at backwaters and see the waves crashing into the shore at the same time. It felt giddy, it felt like time travel.

Someone described The House in the Cerulean Sea as sunshine in a bottle and I cannot agree more. It is Linus Baker’s homecoming of sorts. The middle-aged Linus Baker finding the meaning of home, and thereby his purpose in life makes up for a heartwarming read. It reinforces how people have more to them than what meets the eye. It opens your heart, soul, and eyes to a whole world of possibilities. The characters make for such a delightful bunch, you would grow protective of them despite your initial reservations. This book is your well-deserved shot of endorphins.
From the kitchen:
Two weeks and no cake! Here’s a cake recipe that brings the best of two worlds together–Gulab Jamun in a cake form. As someone who loves Gulab Jamun but doesn't want to toil over the Gulab Jamun making process, this recipe is a godsend. This is a one-bowl cake with a prep work of fewer than 15 mins. Skip the glaze and it makes for a delightful tea time snack. It is light, spongy, and goes really well with a cup of tea or coffee. I found the recipe on @archkc’s Instagram profile. I have made this cake multiple times by now. Go make it, this one is a keeper.
From the playlist:
Happier with Gretchen Rubin has some nice, life-changing anecdotes. The first episode released in 2015, The One-Minute Rule, still remains my most favorite. It has the most actionable life advice I have ever come across. It is pretty simple–if you think something is gonna take you only a minute then do it right away. Don’t pause or stop to think about it. It could be anything from washing a pan to responding to an email. It is simple, actionable, and will change your life. Especially when you come back from a trip and have things to unpack. Keep at it and you will suddenly notice a tidier home and a cleaner inbox!
I hope the soothing Lagoon Chill from the Kumablaangi Nights album is a part of your playlist as you are reading this.
Moral of the story for this week: Wear sunscreen kids, even when you time travel.
Ciao.
